Spotreel is a vertical, episodic streaming platform built for a specific kind of viewer — the one with three minutes between MTR stops, and the one with three hours after midnight. We pay creators in cash, dub them in nine languages, and put them in front of people who have never been to Tsim Sha Tsui.

A vertical-video platform for serialised drama. Three to five minute episodes. Twenty to forty per series. Free with ads, paid for the finale.
Not TikTok (we are slow). Not Netflix (we are vertical). Not YouTube (we pay). Not a UGC firehose — every series is curated, dubbed, and contractually licensed.
The gap between a 60-second TikTok and a 60-minute Netflix episode. We own that gap. Three minutes, vertical, dubbed, addictive, paid.
We look like film. Black bars. Long shadows. Real typography. Vertical does not mean amateur.
Cantonese first. Subtitles always. Nine languages of voice dub. The neon is local — the story is universal.

Two names. One brand. Spotreel is the global handle. 簡映 (gáan-jíng) is the Cantonese mark — “simple cinema”. They sit together, never apart, when serving Cantonese audiences.

簡映 · gáan² jíng² (Jyutping) · jiǎn yìng (Pinyin).
Spot — a moment, a place, the spotlight. Reel — a film roll, a vertical scroll, a recurring sequence.
Three minutes. One story. Nine languages.
Abbreviated: “Three minutes. Vertical. Worldwide.”
Bilingual lockup is reserved for HK-facing surfaces. International uses Spotreel alone. Never translate “Spotreel” into Chinese characters.
A wordmark, a glyph, and a bilingual lockup. No mascot. No 3D variant. No emoji.
Maintain clear space equal to 1× the cap height of the wordmark on all sides. Minimum sizes — wordmark: 80px / 24mm on screen, 16mm in print. Glyph: 20px / 6mm. Below these, use the glyph alone.
A small palette, intensely applied. Deep Sea is the room. Cinema Blue is the stage light. Alert Coral is the click.
Aim for 70% Deep Sea / 20% bone or surface ramp / 8% Cinema Blue / 2% Alert Coral. Coral is a finishing salt — it earns its place at CTAs and alerts only. If a screen has more than three coral elements, one of them is wrong.
Inter Display for marketing. Inter for product. Noto Sans TC for Cantonese. JetBrains Mono for data, IDs, timestamps. No script faces. No serifs.
Confident, never loud. Local, never parochial. Cinematic, never pretentious. We write the way people actually speak — direct, dry, a little bit cynical, never sentimental.
Always HK$ in HK contexts. HK$8.42M, not HKD 8,420,000. Use mono for tabular numbers. No "M" for under 100k.
Sentence case for everything except proper nouns. UI labels lowercase ("watch home"), headlines title cased.
Allowed in marketing copy for HK audience. Don't mix in product UI — pick one per surface.
Em-dashes — like this — are house style. Periods at end of taglines. No exclamation marks in product UI, ever.
Buttons are pills, never round-rect. Badges are flat chips. No gradients on interactive elements. Alert Coral for primary CTAs only.
